CARVACRAFT ART-DECO BAKELITE (CATALIN) DOUBLE INKWELL PEN HOLDER-US SELLER

Description

Offered is this beautiful Art-Deco Bakelite double inkwell made by Carvacraft in Great Britain.
This was made from two colors of Bakelite, when new I believe the ends and inkwell covers were white, and the center section was a pale green color. The material has patinated over the last 70 years, so all pieces are now a rich amber/butterscotch color. It is 11 inches wide, 7 inches deep, and 2-1/2 inches high. It weighs about 880 grams.
It is marked with the maker's imprint on the bottom (last picture). It is faint, but readable.
There are no cracks or external chips, there is some chipping around the holes for the inkwell inserts, but this was done when it was made at the factory. They are not visible from the outside. One of the metal pieces that hold the sliding inkwell covers in place was broken and one half of it was missing, so I fabricated a suitable replacement. The red and black inkwell inserts are original.
Otherwise, there is only minor wear and light scratching from use and storage. It has been hand polished to a nice gloss, and is ready to display in your collection.
