" Grove Encyclopedia of Decorative Arts:
Ebena, Belgrium factory established in 1921 in Wijnegem, to make plastics and
insulation.  The plastic (also known as Ebena) was a compound initially made
of albumen and sawdust, but from 1922 it was based on copal, a natural resin imported
from the Belgian Congo (later Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of the Congo).   The
company specialized in lidded boxes (notable luxury chocolate boxes) but
also made a wide range of domestic goods (ie: Clock cases and lamps).  The factory
    closed in 1931.
These boxes are rare and very sought after in the UK.
    The box is approx 2 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 6".............it weighs 1# 11 oz.  approx.
